COURSE DESCRIPTION

DCR600 Doctrine of ChristA study of the doctrine of union with Christ from biblical, historical, systematic, and practical perspectives. Emphasis will be on a Reformed understanding of the doctrine, though other perspectives will be considered. Examines major aspects of union with Christ with application to ourselves, our families, and the church.BDN610 Book of Daniel

This course is a literary, interpretive, and theological study of the book of Daniel with special focus on the apocalyptic genre, the socio-historical milieu of the apocalyptic movement, the employment of different reading strategies, and guidelines for interpretation. Using specific examples, the ultimate goal is to provide tools and directives for appropriating the message of Daniel to our human and ecclesiastical context.

 

BWD620 Books of Wisdom

This course is a literary and theological study of the wisdom literature in the Old Testament (Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes) with special focus on the place of wisdom in Old Testament theology, Wisdom theology, reading and interpretive strategies, Wisdom genres and the theological message of each book.

 

BIS630 Book of Isaiah

Using the English Bible, a study of the book of Isaiah, its context, and its themes.

 

DSN640 Doctrine of Sin

A study of the doctrines of the triune God and his relation to the created order, the divine decrees, the creation and fall of man, and sin.

 

DCV650 Doctrine of Covenant

Introduction to the study of Scripture as God’s authoritative and inerrant Word for his covenant people and a normative guide for Kingdom service. Emphasis upon theological method and the interpretation of Scripture; the interface between the gospel and contemporary cultures; God’s self-revelation in the history of redemption, culminating in Christ and the Scriptures; the unity of Scripture in the unfolding of the covenant story; and the spiritual formation of the student. Requires Covenant Group participation.

 

DGE660 Doctrine of Grace

This course will seek to build a vision and strategy for gospel-centered discipleship that relies on the power of the gospel instead of self-effort and moral reformation. Students will study and practice the means of grace and many of the classic spiritual disciplines.

 

DET670 Doctrine of the Last Thing (End Times)

We examine what the Scriptures teach about the last days, including a variety of challenging topics, such as the afterlife, the general resurrection, and the consummation of Christ’s messianic kingdom in the new heavens and new earth.

 

DAS680 Doctrine of Advanced Spiritual Warfare

A study of the biblical data related to the demonic. Practical application to Christian living regarding victory over the enemy in individual lives and in the church.  A discussion of guidelines for the deliverance ministry.

 

DHD690 Doctrine of Healing and Deliverance

An examination of the theological and historical roots of the doctrine and practice of divine healing from the Apostolic period to the present, with special emphasis on the movement as it developed in America. Describes the special foundational relationship of the divine healing movement to the Pentecostal and charismatic movements.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

The minimum admission requirement is a relevant Masters Degree from an accredited institution for which the candidate must have achieved an above average grade. In the case of foreign qualifications, the institution must be accredited by a recognised accrediting body or by the institution’s national government.
